About shoe size notation
All shoe sizes in our shop are listed in US sizes.
There are size differences between Japan and the West because shoe size standards are different . Therefore, when purchasing shoes in overseas sizes, you need to take this into consideration when choosing a size.
- Sneakers: 0.5~1cm larger than Japanese sizes
- Leather shoes: same size as Japanese sizes
Even when it comes to overseas shoe sizes, the size will be different for sneakers and leather shoes. For leather shoes, the size often includes a margin (the part of the toe that can be used for play) , so we recommend choosing the same size as the Japanese size.
The reason for this difference is that Japanese shoe sizes indicate the size of the foot that fits that shoe size. The standard is the "foot size," and shoe sizes in Europe and the United States indicate the length and width of the shoe itself. This is because the "shoe last size" is the standard . For example, if a person with a foot length of 25cm wants to wear Japanese size shoes, they can choose 25cm and wear them in a comfortable fit. The size of the foot is determined by taking this into account and including the allowance (the space at the toes) . In other words, even if the Japanese size is 25cm, In reality, the size is about 0.5 to 1 cm larger, at 25.5 cm or 26 cm .
On the other hand, Western shoe sizes (for sneakers) are actual measurements based on "last size," so if a person with a 25cm foot length wears an overseas size of 25cm, it will feel tight even though it is a perfect size with no extra allowance.
